The brighter Star!

(MakingitsoInteresting)
The brighter star!
If you help others become a shining star, you will soon be a brighter star to that shining star! How would you like that? You don’t have to be a king maker! You simply have to do something for another person nearest you, either physically, by relationship or by affinity. It’s really interesting to know that it is that easy to become a brighter star than a shining star that most people see; and to know that only special people can recognize the brighter star in any event.
Happy New Year to you and all!

On Merriment Contagion!

(MakingitsoInteresting)
Whenever, a particular feast day is being celebrated in our place in honor of a Patron Saint, the other non-religious groups are also celebrating, as if, they also share the honoring of the Saint for whom the feast was made. I really don’t know exactly, why, but one thing appears certain. When somebody is in merriment, it creates a contagion. The people around him also wants to be merry. Isn’t that interesting? This happens to the surrounding populace of the merrymakers , with or without reason for their part to celebrate. Assuming, the premise is true, don’t you think it pays to be happy and have a happy face in the office, so that the others would also be buoyed and become happy, too on normal days? It would be interesting, if we can always do such influencing in society.

Talking!

About talking!
Many people, love to talk more than ever. They are sometimes on the verge of being called egotistical. They can not stop talking, particularly about themselves, exposing more of their ignorant self, and unacceptable standards. Had they been wiser, they would spend more time developing their listening skills.

This is not to say that people should not speak their minds. They should talk, when it is ask of them. They too, must not be very shy to have their ideas be counted. But over doing anything , particularly in talking is definitely a no, no. Give others a chance to say their piece, and they will listen to your piece in return. It is a courtesy protocol.

Convenience!

Convenience!
What an interesting thing. Some people want to bend the rules at their convenience. They even bend their beliefs. That means, they believe on something, because it is convenient for them. When that something becomes inconvenient, they change and bend the same principle that they earlier believe in. Are we like that? Well, I hope not. There are written laws and beliefs that we should not be bending. In a sense, believing is not necessarily a matter of convenience.

Interesting Developments in Publishing!

While the traditional methods of publishing are costly and time consuming, slow, takes months and years to accomplish, now you already have smaller scale publishing costing a lot less, or even large scale publications at lesser cost and lesser time requirement. This is a welcomed and an interesting development to the knowledge industry. By these methods, the combined resources of money and time are used more effectively. I hope, we continue to effect same in more areas of human endeavors to more efficiently make use our global resources.

The Soft-ware Challenge!

A Challenge for Software Makers!
It’s interesting. Some people can’t write straight English, and yet they are able to share with others and make them understand their important ideas particularly, through the internet. The topics and ideas they share are often times very important and relevant. We seek to totally understand them, yet, sometimes we just can’t follow the thoughts that were put out in writing. I think, we should devise some help for these kinds of articles. People near them should be able to help clarify the ideas, just like having a spelling checker in one’s personal computer.

The ideas that we seek to understand goes in total waste, if we continue not to be able to decode these ideas. Can someone please devise a program that automatically tells the writer, that the usual sentence construction defies the rules of English sentence construction, so that the writer can review or modify the sentence in order for it to be understandable and coherent? Perhaps, a software company can work on this project following the rules of the English language, so we are able to decode the messages, that we need to understand regardless of country of origin.

At one point in time, I was trying to research on a particular concern, and I was so happy to have come across an article that answered my topic search. As I read through the write up, I found out that the words were so cluttered, I could not make out even the ideas being put out. I could not believe , what seemed to be an answer to my search was something that was so difficult to decode and understand. If a spelling checker can be made, why not a sentence construction logic or an idea logic checker? This should be a good challenge to software makers, so that we understand the messages being put out in the internet, even if the English is not entirely grammatically correct to this day’s rules, since the language is evolving ,too.

Leaders and Managers!

GrowingUp the Leaders of Tomorrow:
Insights for everyday living and Leadership preparations in business management .
Author: Sanoy C. Suerte, RME/MBM
Vol.1, November 2009

This tract is written and dedicated to young people, ages 16-40 years old, who are paving their way to become leaders and managers of business today and in the not so distant future ahead of them. People, who may have the early encounter and inclination towards the call of business as a youngster, or student and college graduates/non-graduates alike, who have decided to explore the world of business and necessarily the principles of management that go right along with it. This mini-book is only one of a series to be written in several volumes, similar to an ongoing compilation of articles, written by an author for different fora to help build a new generation of well balanced, humane oriented management and business practitioners, highly aware of the needs of the common man and society in general for sustainable development, and sound business principles. Being more of a compilation of important thoughts and philosophies than a normal standard pedagogical textual material, the series is arranged more liberally as a loose compilation of wisdom, purposely deviating from the normal logic of the common text book type of organization. May the younger generation continue to build a better society than they have found it.

Idealism!

Idealism!
Idealism is often associated with the youth. It is a belief that perfection and principles are realistic and attainable. Why it is often associated with the younger generation is for reasons not without basis. Many individuals, as they grow older become too tempered by experiences that tend to compromise principles associated with values and perfection. Thus, we often hear the justifications, “to err is but human, and to forgive is Divine.” Whether or not the saying is used appropriately in different situations to justify mischiefs , is for you to interpret, judge, reject or accept. But, one thing is sure. Idealism is something that is good, and is probably there, because the youthful mind is less corrupted by compromising human experiences that values highly, “expediency” over “principles”, that demand things to be earned the hard and better way. People of age therefore, who share the idealism of the youth, remain forever young at heart and have dispositions worthy of emulation. Noteworthy to consider is the fact that compromises are often sub-optimal. They fail to satisfy both ends of the bargaining table, and at best, provide a middle ground that is ephemeral in nature. Youthful idealism, therefore is not without basis, especially when pursued peacefully in search for excellence in performance and achievements, in lieu of mediocrity.

King Solomon!

Solomon the King!
It took Solomon twenty years to build the Temple and his Palace.
2Chronicles 8:1

Solomon ruled in Jerusalem over all for forty years.
2Chronicles 9:30

Time! Time! Time!

When we are busy and so absorbed in what we are doing, we often say , “how fast the time could fly.” When we are taking an exam and time is up, yet we are not done with it, we say, “ time was so short.” When we are waiting for someone, and that someone is late for fifteen minutes, we say, “waiting time was too long.” When we want something and it is delayed, we say, “time is long in coming.” When we were kids, and we yearn to be doing what we want, and parents do not allow us, we desire to be grown ups, and be totally independent of them.” When we become old, totally independent of parents, and we remember how free we were from responsibilities- we did not have to do- and had to play all day, we say, “how sweet it was to be kids.” What a paradox.

Coincidences and Celebrities!

When I was a young boy, I loved to read the comic books, and see the movies of Superman, Batman and Robin, Flash Gordon, and the others that portrayed super-heroes. I followed these stories and movies, even in my adult life, and was awed by what they were able to do in action. In one of my business trips out of the country, to the USA and Canada, together with a team of engineers from National Steel (Philippines) and US Steel, we had the opportunity to visit the Niagara falls, at the Canadian side. That was sometime in 1988. As expected, I had some pictures taken at one section of the view deck near the railings at the very front of the falls. You could see from there the mighty water (around 1-2 meters thick) falling down the lagoon below, and from there, you could not help it, but feel and marvel at the power of nature, and the God who created it. Such a strong force of nature would dwarf an ordinary man’s strength.

After that trip, I had the souvenir photos of that trip set aside by my wife for the family files, only to find out later, when watching the movie Superman again, that the very spot, where I had my picture taken, was the same location, where Superman flew to save a little boy that fell from the tourist observation deck railings. Oh boy! What a coincidence. My kids were so excited to see the same location, where I sat to be same as that where Superman was. To them, it was like seeing Superman and the boy in action with their Dad. You never can tell about coincidences. It’s interesting and memorable. It was as if the family saw their Dad meet Christopher Reeve in person, and everyone was proud as not too many from the Philippines met Superman in person yet.

And talking of having photographs with celebrities, would you believe that you can have a photo opportunity with the US president in Washington DC, if you go there at its tourist grounds? I don’t know now a days, but in 1988, we were surprised to see almost all the tourists could readily have a picture taken with President Ronald and Nancy Reagan’s life size photo props, prepared so vividly by the photographers, you would little suspect it was a prop. I would not know if similar props are still in use today, but it was novel and interesting idea, and ingenious , too. It did a lot of attraction among tourists.

Miyako Ecology Center!

Miyako Ecology Center!
If you happen to visit Kyoto, Japan in one of your trips, one of the most interesting building designs there is the Miyako Ecology Center. It is a 5 minute walk west from Keihan Fujinomori station. The building was constructed to promote environmental protection. I visited the place in June 2005, and a trip there would certainly be very interesting and educational.

Interesting Photos To Remember!

November, 2009 in the Philippine Municipality of Consolacion. The aftermath of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis! An interesting resilience.
Photos and captions by: Sanoy Suerte, RME/MBM; Http://makingitsointeresting.blogspot.com

A construction in progress in the Municipality of Consolacion, in the Philippines. It is interesting. While many Filipinos and other nationals feel that there is a world economic slowdown, there is no let up in the construction of big residential buildings like this in the municipality of Consolacion.

In order to cope up with the difficult economic times, Filipinos have become more creative. The motorcycle had become now a means for livelihood. Passengers take the motorcycle back ride, along with their items for a fare of P10 per person.

This motorcycle service system is able to sustain the driver, his daily budget for food and has provided employment for those, who are not hired by companies for lack of positions for drivers. Many Filipinos in the barrios and small communities make use of their ability to drive motorcycles as a means of livelihood. This is a typical day in the municipality of Consolacion.

The more enterprising Filipinos opened a small store, better known as the Philippine neighborhood assorted “sari-sari” store. This store has a capitalization of P3,000.00 and it is able to sustain the owner its daily budget for food.

History repeats!

History repeats itself!
The books and the information data base is full of life’s lessons, and human experiences. Things that are happening now, may have happened some years back (some time ago), or will happen again. The same story may even happen everyday, over and over again or even simultaneously. Many times, only the actors and actresses (the acting casts) that change. The plot could remain the same or perhaps a slight variation at best; seldom entirely new. Some plots have a gist of ignorance as a primary lesson, others teach arrogance, deceit, recklessness, carelessness, obsession, greed, frugality, miserliness, hard work, wisdom, alacrity, ambition, respect, values, heroism, patriotism, statesmanship, vested interests, shrewdness, complacency, neglect, naivety , callousness, loyalty, adaptability and many more. One should take care ,therefore, not to err on the side of ignorance, hence must learn, whatever it is that needs to be learned from men in history; from their autobiographies; from those who have great insights; from our own evaluative capabilities and experiences. Remember, history can repeat itself, and may just repeat itself always, unless one influences the final outcome. Life so many say, “ is just how we make it!” So, be part of a great history in the making, and not otherwise.
